Dutching calculator
Dutching splits an amount across two or more outcomes in proportion to their odds so the return is equal if any selected outcome occurs. Enter a total amount or target return and each odd.
If none of the selected outcomes occurs, the entire distributed amount is lost; the calculation does not change any probability.
How the calculation works
Each decimal odd has an implied probability of 1 divided by the odd. The calculator uses the inverse of the effective return to distribute the amount, so each stake times its odd produces the same return.
Commission reduces only the positive part of each return. If implied probabilities sum above 100%, equal return is below the distributed amount; splitting amounts does not remove that margin.
Example: dutching two odds
- Use a total of $100 and decimal odds of 2.00 and 4.00, without commission.
- The sum of inverses is 1 ÷ 2 + 1 ÷ 4 = 0.75.
- The distribution is $66.67 at 2.00 and $33.33 at 4.00.
Result: both selections produce approximately $133.33 if either occurs.
